The Council of New Jersey Grantmakers exists to strengthen and promote effective philanthropy throughout the state of New Jersey.

With support from the Annie E. Casey Foundation, the Council of New Jersey Grantmakers has been able to visually “map” grantmaker investments in Camden City, NJ.The interactive, web-based mapping application map tool lists funder, grantee, project description and information and in some cases the neighborhood(s) benefitting from the project grant.

The map can be used to help the philanthropic community and others “see” what investments have currently been made in Camden and assist to identify opportunities for additional investments, new collaborations and partnerships.

Using the map, visitors can search for specific grants through a number of different methods. By typing in the location or clicking a point on the map, you can see all neighboring areas which have received funding.  Visitors also have the option of searching by funder or grantee name.  Another useful function is the ability to search by type of funding.Types are broken down into 9 categories:

  • Human/Social Services
  • Community Development/Housing
  • Health
  • Educational/Youth Development
  • Arts & Culture
  • Workforce Development
  • Environment
  • Community Planning
  • Food

In many instances, categories overlap in funding type.
